Whetstone finishing hone with nominal size of 8" x 2" x 1" and approximately 12,000 (12k) on a grit scale. Hone sizes do vary, size is approximate. Some Hones may be thicker and some thiner than other hones. The hone is uniform dark shades of gray. It is a natural sedimentary whetstone good for fine, final finishing of straight razors.
The working face has been cut flat. However you should flatten and chamfered edges before use. This hone is considered a slow cutting stone. It can be used with plain water or non-petroleum honing fluid.
It is sedimentary rock from an ancient river's silt deposit. It is also referred to as a "River Stone". The stone is very uniform with some visible veins characteristic of this type of rock.
The photographs here are an illustrated representation of the material only. The stone you receive will vary as natural materials do.
